Honda may have the most crossovers in one brand, and they’ve added one more! The 2020 Honda Passport is ready to hit the road in late 2019 and we’re ready for it in Stillwater. If you can’t wait for the 2020, keep an eye out for the 2019 Passport in showrooms in February 2019!

The new Passport sits right in the middle of the CR-V and Pilot. It was designed in the United States and will be built in Alabama so it’s American through and through. Our first look at the Honda Passport was actually in the 1990s when it came out as a twin of the Isuzu Rodeo, but now you could say it’s just the younger sibling to the Honda Pilot. trunk of 2020 honda passport

Notable Upgrades

Honda has manufactured this Passport to be 9.9 inches longer than the CR-V and 6 inches shorter in length than the Pilot so it looks more like a sporty SUV than a family van. In fact, the goal was to make a vehicle that lives up to the name, Sports Utility Vehicle, with all the storage and off-road capacity you could need to take on the world!

The new 2019 and 2020 Honda Passport seats 5 people comfortably with rear seats that move back and forth and fold down for space. The trunk is 41.2 cubic feet of spacious interior ready to hold your luggage, skis, hiking gear, and more when you put the seats down and add up to 100 cubic feet of space. There’s even a fun, hidden storage compartment under the trunk floor with a spare tire!

2020 Honda Passport Comparison

In comparison to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4runner, and Ford Edge, the Passport poses a threat with all this space. The Honda Passport will come in four different trims including the basic Sport, and then the EX-L, Touring, and Elite. All trims come with standard LED lighting, remote engine start, automatic stop-start to reduce fuel consumption and emissions at stoplights, a three-angle backup camera with an overhead view good for trailer hitching, and Honda Sensing.

Honda Sensing includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control! Read more about Honda Sensing here.

The EX-L trim features leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, a power liftgate, and an 8 inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring trims add navigation, hands-free functionality for the power liftgate, a roof rack, insulated glass, and taller tires. With the Passport Elite trim, you could have cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a wireless charging pad!

The Honda Passport engine mirrors the Pilot with a 3.5 V6 engine with 280 horsepower and 262 lb torque. Inside, you have 9-speed automatic transmission and snow, sand, and mud driving modes which we definitely need in Stillwater!

Speaking of off-road friendly modes, the Honda Passport sits 8.4 inches above the ground. It comes equipped with AWD, versus 7.3 inches in off-ground height in the Pilot. Front-wheel-drive Honda Passport models have 7.8 inches of ground clearance. Front-drive Passports can tow 3,500 pounds, while all-wheel-drive versions are rated at 5,000 pounds.

We see a bright future ahead for the 2019 and 2020 Honda Passport!

There are going to be two accessory packages for the 2019 Honda Pilot. The Adventure Package adds running boards, a trailer hitch, and a roof bin. The Urban Package adds underbody spoilers, different 20-inch wheels, interior cargo storage bins and roof rails with crossbars.

This is definitely the new SUV for anyone and everyone! The 6th Avenue Honda team cannot wait for the 2019 and 2020 Passport to hit showroom floors! We know we’ll see you in the new year ready to test drive one of these beauties!
